Driver Complaint – No driveability issues or engine management warning light on. During the MOT test the emissions were noted to be exceptionally high.

Cause/Symptom – The vehicle performance appeared to be o.k. and there were no fault codes in the memory.

Rectification Route – In this instance the fault was located to the engine oil dip stick. During the emission test it was noticed that a hissing noise was coming from the engine bay. Sometime during the vehicle life the “O” ring seal on the top of the dip stick had been removed or fallen off. Replacing the seal rectified the hissing noise and the emission readings were now within the limits required.
